OCTOBER CHARITY OF THE MONTH
October 3rd, 2023

This month we chose to help 1st Newton Aycliffe Scout Group get their premises back after using the premises for over 40 years. As a lot of you will know, on the 1st August, the committee voted to give 1st Newton Aycliffe Scout Group 28 days notice to leave. Requests from the group for an explanation of the reason for this decision have been dismissed.

A protest was held on Saturday 3rd September outside of Newton Aycliffe Scout Centre on Bluebell Way against the removal of the 1st Newton Aycliffe Scouts from their purpose-built building. The community came together with dozens of scouts, residents and councillors meeting outside the centre. The Save our Scouts petition can be signed online at durhamlibdems.org.uk/scouts.

Dorothy Whitehouse presented a cheque to Sharon Hutchinson from the 1st Newton Aycliffe Scout's Group in the sum of £250.00, we hope that the Scout's are back up and running where they belong very soon.
