Darlington Register Office Launches New Initiative.

From Thursday, 16th June 2011 Darlington Register Office will be offering an additional service to all cutomers who attend the Register Office to Register a Birth or Death..

What is Tell Us Once?

'Tell Us Once' is a national project by the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP) and Darlington Borough Council is working in parnership with the DWP to deliver the service.

As part of attending the Register Office to Register a Birth or Death, customer will be offered the Tell Us Once Registration as part of their appointment at which the Registrar will notify on their behalf, a number of government departments and local authority services. These departments and services will then contact the customer direct removing the need for the customer to contact them individually at a challenging time for them.

Making families aware of this new service is vital for its success.

To be able to gain all the benefits of this new service a family needs to take with them the following items:-

The deceased's;

The following Departments will then be informed if required:-

Government Departments;

Department for Work and Pensions – The Pension, Disability and Carers Service, and Jobcentre Plus.

H M Revenue & Customs – Child Benefit, Child Tax Credit & Working Tax Credit, Personal Taxation.

Identity and Passport Service

Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency.

Darlington Borough Council Services;

Housing Benefits, Council Tax, Electoral Registration, Libraries, Housing Services, Blue Badges, Adult Social Services, Children’s Services and Collection of Payments for Council Services.Video - Local Government Channel - Tell Us Once
